Hey Otis is a private digital companion designed to help individuals navigate the emotional turbulence of relationships. Unlike traditional therapy or mediation, Hey Otis provides a solo, AI-facilitated space for users to process their feelings in the heat of the moment and gives them the tools to communicate what their core need is in a way their partner can hear.

Problem

In romantic relationships, conflict is inevitable, but it often leads to disconnection rather than growth. Many couples struggle because they rely on maladaptive communication patterns: they wait too long to address issues, allow negative interactions to outweigh positive ones, and frequently get trapped in "perpetual conflicts" that go unresolved. Silence and the inability to communicate effectively during disagreements cause partners to stop trying to understand each other, ultimately eroding the relationship’s foundation.

Solution

Hey Otis provides a private, AI-facilitated emotional processing space designed to help individuals get their thoughts right before they speak. It is not a mediator or a replacement for therapy; rather, it is a personal tool for emotional clarity:

  • Mapping Differences: Through assessments, the app helps users and partners understand their unique emotional responses to love, stress, and conflict.
  • AI-Facilitated Self-Reflection: Through an interactive AI chat, users have a dedicated place to "dump" their raw thoughts and feelings. The AI facilitates this by asking clarifying questions, helping the user move from reactive anger to an understanding of their underlying needs.
  • The Guided Repair Loop: The AI walks the user through a structured internal process; Vent, Understand, Prepare, and Nurture. This ensures the user moves through the emotional cycle in a healthy way, focusing on their own internal state rather than just the partner's faults.
  • Refining the Message: By processing emotions within the chat first, users can identify what they actually want to communicate.
